NEON

Designed and built the NEON website on Webflow. The catalog carries its own gravity. The site needed to match that editorial weight without competing with the films.

Homepage and film discovery — the editorial grid treats film photography as the primary content, with the UI as a quiet frame around it rather than a presence of its own.

Site architecture and Webflow build

  • Full site design: home, film pages, news, about
  • Responsive from mobile to wide desktop
  • Webflow CMS build with editors who can update film slates without developer involvement

UI that frames, never competes

  • Film photography and poster art dominate; the UI frames rather than competes
  • High-contrast dark palette matches how films are experienced, not how SaaS products are sold
  • Editorial grid inspired by print film criticism rather than streaming platform conventions

Eight years on

The site launched in December 2016 and stayed NEON’s main site through their full run in independent film — Hereditary, Midsommar, Parasite, and the Cannes years. Keeping the site current across that span — catalog expansions, awards cycles, streaming partnerships — meant holding the design together without letting the editorial weight collapse into a content feed. The site was retired in February 2025 after nearly a decade.
