The Press Room

The Press Room sells prints, posters, and objects made from a private archive of vintage cinema letterpress printing plates — the physical blocks that promoted films during Hollywood’s exhibition era.

Homepage and product browsing — warm paper tones and minimal type let the letterpress plates carry visual weight without competing for attention.

Building the store

  • Full e-commerce site design and Webflow build
  • Product photography art direction
  • CMS architecture for managing a deep, growing catalog

Letting the plates speak

  • Warm paper tones and restrained typography that don’t compete with the plates
  • No algorithmic product recommendations: the archive is a collection, not a feed
  • Checkout built for one-time and gift purchases, not subscription retention
Product detail — the plate's history is part of the object, so the layout gives it room to breathe alongside the purchase flow.

Mobile catalog — the collection browses as a collection, not a feed. No algorithmic sorting.

How it runs

The Press Room team updates product listings, adds new plates, and processes orders through Webflow’s CMS without developer involvement. The site is still running.
